Why I started a blog
Hello there, here we are, my first blog post. First I want to say welcome. Thank you for your time and your attention.
I’m starting a blog because I have something to say. And if you have something to say. You better make it your duty to say it! Now other people might believe I have nothing to say. Well, you’re wrong and I don’t control what you think so I don’t care. You have to believe within yourself that what you say holds value. Do you think Bob Dylan cared what other people thought about him and his music? Now that’s someone who when making music, had something to say.
Men’s mental health is worst than ever before. More than ever men are more depressed. In a world where overstimulation is the norm. We live in the information/digital age, porn is everywhere, Facebook (Meta), Instagram, Snapchat, Tiktok, Tinder, Bumble, Hinge ect etc (yes, I believe dating apps are another form of social media) are running the world and destroying your brain. You are their slave. Slavery never ended. It’s just shifted into different forms of power. And you’re doing nothing about it. Living passively.
While I have been fortunate myself, haven’t been diagnosed with any mental disorders and I feel mentally stable. I too have had the experience of depression, anxiety and self-hate. I understand if your mental health has been getting to you. But, if you’re not actively doing everything in your power to improve your mental health, I have no time for you. Your mental health is the most important thing out of everything in your life. Stop making excuses. You are responsible for everything that happens in your life. Take Extreme Ownership! Most of us never give it the time of day to work on and better it. We’re too obsessed with the physical (shout out to Instagram and unrealistic beauty standards). We should treat mental health by going to the gym to get in shape, seeing a therapist, talking to a friend, reading a book or doing an activity only you want to do with yourself. That’s getting your mind into the shape you want. As they say. Mind. Body. Soul. It is all connected. And that’s why I’m here. To shed some light on the destructive activities young men are continuing to do which destroy their mental health. To take back control of your life.
On a lighter note, I want to become better at writing, communicating and teller of my stories that I believe will hold value for people who come across my work. I don’t even identify myself as a writer, I’m just someone who likes to write. Writing is fun and what better way to challenge me than to kick things off with a blog. American author and former dot com business executive Seth Godin said something about beginning. “Just start. Start now. Fail often. Enjoy the ride.”
Let’s enjoy the ride together.
Until next time,
Brody
