We can’t start over, only continue

The idea of a fresh start sounds wonderful. To wipe the slate clean, erase everything that happened and start from zero again. This is not how life works. 

Society has made us believe that we can just throw whatever we were doing away like it never existed in the first place and start something completely new. Social media have ‘fake rich gurus’ telling you to quit your job “right now” and chase your dreams of becoming a millionaire, who are preying on you to buy their latest How To Get Rich course while they’re getting rich off you (it’s all a scheme).

We cannot start over; however, we can begin again. We can move forward from where we left off. You never start from scratch, you always start from experience. What you did before gave you some kind of experience that will help you with the thing you’re tackling now. 

Starting again means going backwards.

Beginning again means being where you are right now and just moving the checkpoint spot there.

Remember those video games where if you got a checkpoint that was your new beginning? It’s exactly that. And you keep moving forward until you find another checkpoint in the sand. 

Keep moving forward, find your checkpoints and look back on the progress you’ve made. And when you look do you know what you will see? 

Your life unfolded.
