Everything is a Business

Don’t be fooled. Life can be harsh, it is harsh. The reality can be brutal, it is brutal. We don’t like to say it but it’s true. The common denominator that interconnects everything back to each other is that everything is a business. It’s what makes the world go around.

It’s more prominent in the Western world than in the East. It’s one of the most known things about the West, it’s what makes The West The West.

We’ve seen it in the past when big CEOs make decisions based on money and profits rather than the ethical, the moral and what started the business in the first place.

People get greedy. Institutions get greedy (banks are in a league of their own). They forget who they are and what they stand for. We’ve seen it through many people, life becomes all about money, and they turn into a Gollum-like character when a large sum of money is brought into the equation. And then their heads are lost.

We’ve heard of scientists taking massive amounts of money from extremely wealthy people who are not good people, and turning the other cheek on what those wealthy people are doing. This is a specific example, yes, and it is a hassle for scientists to apply and get grants to run their labs to produce studies, so we have more knowledge to better our health and overall quality of life. But where is the line?

While we can’t change things in the macro, we can certainly change things in the micro.

Us. We can change ourselves. How?

By better preparing ourselves for the realities of life. That everything is in fact seen and run as a business first, and then whatever second. If we come with this prepared in our minds, we’ll be less caught off guard, less naive and less susceptible to being screwed over in the short and long term.

Hospitals are first a business, then a healthcare facility (not even), a medical facility.

Schools are first a business, then a place of education.

Restaurants are first a business, then a place to enjoy a nice meal.

Prisons are first a business (they need to keep beds full), then a correctional institution

It’s not your fault, but it is your responsibility not to get corrupted by extreme capitalism.

Until next time,

Brody

Brody Galletti

I started this blog to share my love of self education and continious evolving. As they say “write the book you want to read, make the movie you want to watch.” I’m writing the blog posts that I want to see that other blogs are not writing about.

I’m also here to share my love of life, learning, adversity, how to be self-critical and self-aware, humility, philosophy, reading and how to become a better human being and artist.

There will be a special focus for young men and men’s mental health. How to be a man, how to navigate the world as a man how to become a better man and how to best serve yourself and others. That’s what were here for. For each other.
